Apple iOS 6.1.3 Released. Should I Avoid It?

Apple has released iOS 6.1.3 recently. It is mainly aimed at addressing the security vulnerability which can make attackers get around the lock screen without entering passcode to make phone calls, listen to voice mail, check contacts or photos and so on.

The changes in the new update of iOS 6.1.3 include:

  • Addressed the bug that can allow anyone to bypass the lock screen without passcode.
  • Achieved a number of improvements related to Maps in Japan.

iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users can go to "Settings-General-Software Update" to download and install this new update. However, we suggest you STOP UPGRADING IF YOU WANT TO JAILBREAK your device since this new update fixed one of the security holes that enables evasi0n jailbreak. And it is hard to say when the next untethered jailbreak will arrive. Nonetheless, if you have an A4 device with stored SHSH Blob files, you can try to get more information about it by upgrading to iOS 6.1.3.

For users who don’t want jailbreak but insist on this update, please notice:

  1. The new release of iOS 6.1.3 is only available via OTA at the moment.
  2. The firmware recovery through iTunes still indicates iOS 6.1.2.

And once again, we highly recommend you to jailbreak your device so that you can install more amazing apps from Cydia, like iKeyMonitor Keylogger for iPhone/iPad. Under some type of situation, these tools could be very helpful especially when you would like your devices to do something special for you!
